The Mies Society will host an exclusive screening event for the seminal film, MIES AND ME, by Director Katherine Lo in celebration of Mies’ 140th milestone birthday with our partners, the College of Architecture. As a perfect backdrop, the event will take place in S. R. Crown Hall—both a Chicago Landmark and National Historic Landmark building designed by Mies (1956)—on Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus. The building is home to IIT College of Architecture and remains true to its original function as a flexible, one-room columnless classroom. Since its construction, Crown Hall has been lauded as an “immortal contribution to the architecture of Chicago and the world,” and has been highly regarded by many as a pilgrimage site for those who appreciate the depth—and epitome—of Mies’ architectural philosophy.
